Here’s the info announcing the lecture:
I am writing to let you know about an upcoming event at The Shrine of the Sacred Heart (my parish) that may be of interest. On Sunday, February 24, Graham McAleer, Professor of Philosophy at Loyola University of Baltimore, will give an address about how great stories can teach us about morality. He has written a book on the idea of just war in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings (see link below). He will use this as a starting point for his presentation and then broaden the perspective. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion.
The talk will begin at 1:00 PM with lunch served prior at 12:30. The event will be held in the parish undercroft, following the 11:30 choral Mass. The Shrine of the Sacred Heart is located at 5800 Smith Avenue in the lovely Mt. Washington section of Baltimore (21209). Please let me know if you would like to attend. The is no charge, but a head-count for the lunch would be helpful. Please spread the word to others you know who may be interested.
