Brunello Cucinelli tops the list for Best Dressed Company Award. Regular readers know this is my on-going effort to list those companies which do best and worst on ethical business practice in the fashion industry. The list is incomplete, of course, but inspired mostly by whether a company models itself on the estate, Scheler’s theory of moral business.
Cucinelli is a big supporter of the Benedictine monks at Norcia in Italy and has spoken about his efforts to help them on a number of occasions, as well as how they help him spiritually, and implicitly his business practice. I provide a video in V&R Chapter 5 where Cucinelli speaks of himself as an abbot.
Please look at this account of the Benedictines of Norcia written by one of America’s leading Catholic intellectuals, Tom Hibbs. It is excellent stuff (http://www.nationalreview.com/article/450178/norcia-italy-benedictine-monks-birra-nursia-brewery-prayer-work-ora-labora-rebuild-town).
