Andrew Bolton hails from Blackburn, Lancashire, not far from where I grew up. He is responsible for the upcoming exhibition on fashion and the Church at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. It promises to be quite the event.
Here is an excellent profile of Bolton and some of his motivations: https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2018/apr/29/divine-inspiration-how-high-church-led-to-high-fashion.
It’s super that the themes of V&R are going to be showcased and I plan to visit the exhibition and report back.
Meanwhile, if you have the chance to visit Lancashire and walk the canals that dot the land, I highly recommend it. Tolkien, by the way, loved to walk the countryside around Blackburn. He sent his children to the elite Jesuit school there: Stony Hurst is in the country just outside Blackburn.
